Pelorus Incorporated

       Business Navigators

Let us help you chart your course!

Pelorus Incorporated was established in 1993 to provide management consulting services in the areas of corporate development, technology commercialization, and as a vehicle for providing investment, advisory and interim management services to early-stage, technology-based companies.  Corporate development  consulting includes strategic planning (identifying business opportunities), business assessment (sorting out current and potential lines of business), and acquisitions/divestitures (identifying and acquiring/ preparing and soliciting the sale of a company, line of business or product/service).  The technology commercialization practice is essentially process of strategizing and implementing the best path to realize the highest NPV for nascent technologies.  Advisory and interim management services are typically provided at the request of early-stage companies or their investors.  Such services include disciplined guidance through the formative stages of developing a new enterprise:  rational business plan, raising capital, hands-on interim executive leadership.

Corporate management of  an established and proven company periodically needs to assess its competitive position and strategic direction.  Responsible management needs to judge whether to stay the course or alter course to avoid dangerous water.

Early-stage, technology-based companies need to be extremely disciplined in developing and commercializing technologies.  While a new technology may address a wide spectrum of market needs, the commercial key to success is picking and pursuing opportunities with greatest present value.  Investors and management need to keep a weather eye for technology development distractions-- "interesting" projects with low payoff-- and keep a steady hand on the tiller.

What is a pelorus?  A pelorus is a navigational device used to measure the angular distance from the ship’s bow to any object—navigational aid (lighthouse, buoy, antenna), point of land, celestial body.  A pelorus assists the navigator in assessing the current position and direction of the ship.

Let Pelorus Incorporated help identify opportunities for growth and help set the strategic course for long-term success.
